Within a few years of starting school, it moves fast towards problem solving, connections, communication, and representations of abstract and real life events, giving us tools to operate in a world of opportunities. Everywhere you look - patterns, shapes, sequences, relationships and beautiful mysteries appear alive with energy and meaning. And yet, in our disadvantaged schools in South Africa, there continues to be a glaring deficit of performance.
